(SKELEC) At 1:55 pm our maintenance team successfully completed restoration to all customers in the Frigate Bay area, that have been without electricity service, since Wednesday evening's outage.

The cause of the fault was due to two underground cables (the main and it’s backup) being damaged by possible lightning strikes.

Today Friday (August 18), our cable and other maintenance crews were able to successfully complete the job.

We apologise to all our customers that were affected by the extensive loss of their electricity supply. It is very rare that we lose the main and backup at the same time and the loss of this led to a near 36 hour blackout experienced by those consumers.

It is our aim to continually provide and supply reliable electricity service to all consumers and when we are unable to do so we fall short of our mission statement and with this we apologise.
