The ICC's Bring it Bus Tour was used to promote the Twenty20 Cricket Tournament Matches in host islands. The bus held promotions in both St. Kitts and Nevis.

Young entrepreneurs took over Independence Square on Friday for the annual Junior Achievers Trade Fair. The Company Programme is part of Junior Achievement International, which sees students conceptualize a business idea, prepare a business plan, establish and operate the business and then liquidate the enterprise. They are also required to provide a performance report that includes financial statements. The companies raise startup capital by selling shares and they pay dividends after liquidation.








Home Grown Talent has been signed on to the Music Festival before all others this year. St. Kitts-born, Kervin 'Infamus' Benjamin signed the contract Thursday morning (April 8) as the first act of the 14th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

In St. Kitts and Nevis, its traditional for Boxing Day to start with J'ouvert. J'ouvert morning is part of National Carnival Activities which take place at the end of December and culminate early January. J'ouvert which is pronounced 'juuvay', is a large street party during Carnival and is considered a contraction of the French jour ouvert, or day open (morning). Pictures taken by Bert David.


This year's National Carnival Queen Competition is set for December 28th. It promises to be a tight competition as most of the girls have previous experience in pageantry and some of them are reigning queens.

This year's 30th staging of the pageant will showcase the talent and beauty of 11 young ladies from across the Caribbean who will be competing for the coveted title. The show takes place on December 30th at 8pm at Carnival City.

Thousands turned out for a day at the tracks when exhibition thoroughbred horse races were hosted at Beaumont Park on Sunday. Live horse racing dates back to 1924 in St. Kitts when races were held at the Sandown Race Course in Ponds Pasture. After nearly half a century the unique sport is set to make a permanent return to the shores of Sugar City at the Beaumont Park Race Track located in the northern part of the island under the mountain of Liamuiga. A new dispatch system was implemented on December 1, 2009. Some taxi operators who had already been complaining about where on Port Zante they are located are not pleased with the system. Pictures were taken by Bert David who reported on the situation.

A demonstration was held by the People's Action Movement (PAM) on Wednesday 25, November 2009. PAM called for the government to leave the constituency boundaries as is and to call elections now.

Hurricane Omar brushed St.Kitts and Nevis as a Category Three Storm in the early hours of the morning on Thursday October 16, 2008. No lives were lost, and no injuries were reported, but high seas battered areas along the coast of both islands, damaging roads and destroying property, including some homes along the Western coast of St. Kitts.
