Family member alleges police delay led to stabbing death

Chelston Mills

Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN): A family member of the deceased Chelston Mills who was stabbed on Wednesday in Newton Ground is reporting that the incident could have been prevented had police in Sandy point responded earlier to calls from residents. Father Alric Francis is Chelston’s uncle. He spoke to WINN on Friday morning. He also spoke about the incident that led to the stabbing.

WINN on Friday spoke to Inspector Lyndon David, who said he was not aware of a delay between when residents called the police and when they responded. If there was a delay, he said he would not know what would have caused it but would check into it. A check by WINN revealed that there is one police vehicle at the Sandy Point police station.

Meanwhile, Inspector David disclosed that the suspect who was arrested in connection with the incident is still in custody and no one has yet been charged with the crime.  Police reported Wednesday that St. Clair Elliot aka "Scamba" of Newton Ground is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
