St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Getting people to ‘think green’ is one of the greatest environmental challenges in the Federation says Environmental Education Officer Derionne Edmeade.
Visiting the Breakfast Show Thursday, Mr. Edmeade said the solution was to change the mindset towards conserving energy. He gave some tips on saving
energy and ultimately saving the environment.
Meantime, the Department of Physical Planning and the Environment is continuing its celebration of World Environment Day (June 5th) by taking its message to the streets. One June 22nd, the Department will host an awareness march through the streets of Basseterre, and an exhibition in Independence Square.
Next Friday's exhibition will showcase art and green technology competition pieces submitted by the primary and secondary school students for World Environment Day.
Major stakeholders will participate in the exhibition including TDC Ltd, the Solid Waste Management Corporation, the St. Kitts Electricity Company and the Agriculture Department.
Other activities for Environment Awareness Month included visits to primary and secondary schools, radio presentations, and the art and green technology competition in primary and secondary schools.
