St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A young man from Spooners, Cayon has been fined for stealing a pair of jeans from a store located in the heart of downtown Basseterre.

Leo Christian went before the Magistrate court this week and pleaded guilty to larceny for stealing the jeans from Sports Zone on February 24.

He was fined $500 to be paid within five weeks or if in default serve three months in jail.

Diana Mason of Upper Market Street, charged with Wounding, went before the magistrate court and pleaded not guilty at the trial.

She was found guilty and fined $3000 to be paid within six months or in default serve eight months imprisonment.

Police have announced the arrest of a man caught on surveillance video breaking into and stealing items from the Square Duty Free liquor store office warehouse on Port Zante this past weekend.

Charged for the offence of Building Breaking and Larceny is George Carty of West Street.

Police say the use of footage captured by the store's video surveillance was instrumental in moving the case forward and encouraged business and homeowners to make use of the government’s duty free concession on the importation of security cameras and related equipment.
