Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN): The name of the person chosenas the new leader of the opposition People’s Action Movement on Sunday, will not be officially announced by the party until the following Sunday (September 30th), when the selection is ratified by the general body of the party.
Rhyllis Percival Chair of the Special Delegates Convention slated for Sunday 23rd, told WINN FM that while she was sure word would get out who the Leader-Elect was, until the rank and file ratified the delegate’s choice, the party would not issue a formal statement.
She said in the event that the choice was not ratified, the delegates would have to meet again.
Fifteen delegates representing the eight constituencies from St. Kitts, three each from the PAM women’s group and its youth arm, and all members of the party executive will vote for the new leader by secret ballot on Sunday.
The current Leader Lindsay Grant gives up the position on September 30th.
