Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN): The National Assembly on Friday passed the Procurement and Contract Act, 2012, which had its first reading in the Assembly on June 28. This law will mandate public competition by companies bidding for government contracts. Mover of the bill Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas highlighted the purposes of the bill importance during his presentation in parliament Friday, which include ensuring public competition for all procurement of government contracts. This bill he said, points to the government’s interest in transparency and good governance.
However, Opposition Leader Mr. Mark Brantley while welcoming the Bill and applauding government for taking this step, used the opportunity to call on government to have debated and enacted the Freedom of Information and Integrity in Public Life Acts.

The title of the Acts passed typically are numbered 1 to n of the year in which they were passed. This information is missing. Also there is no indication of the date of passing. Mention is made of Friday solely.
Please address these seemingly minor but glaring omissions and improve on an excellent effort to report the Nation's news.
