Basseterre, St. Kitts (WINN): Liverpool Row remains closed Monday, as 'unforeseen difficulties' delayed completion of a resurfacing operation that was expected to be completed on Sunday.
The Traffic Department issued the following statement Sunday night.
“Due to unforeseen difficulties encountered during the removal of the old surface of Liverpool Row, resurfacing of said road has been delayed. As a result, Liverpool Row will remain close to vehicular traffic on Monday Sept. 10th to facilitate completion of works.
Traffic flow on the lower portion of Church Street and lower College St will be affected. Signs will be placed to indicate restrictions.
The cooperation of motorists is solicited.”
Meantime a trench dug across the Kim Collins Highway on Sunday to allow the Electricity Department to run lines across the road to power newly erected street lights, was filled in and the road re-opened. The trench in the vicinity of the Taiwanese Agricultural Station has however, not yet been re-surfaced. Drivers are advised to exercise caution.
Sunday night, the streetlights were not yet operational.
